Right before I made my way to Eastern Creek, there was another event that was taking place which was at JDM Yard. JDM Yard has been in business for 10 years now & that's what they were celebrating.
For those that don't know, JDM Yard stocks many parts mainly focusing on Hondas. So of course, the meet was over run by massive amounts of Hondas. And for those that don't know me, I dislike Hondas very much. There were only two reasons why I went, one of which was because this car was there:
If you've been hanging around the automotive scene here in Sydney, you should know this car very well. The last time I've seen Fonzy's Celica was around November last year which is a pretty long time since I used to see it quite often. I've been told he has been with other priorities so he hasn't had much time to work/take the car out, but after a year, it's finally back!
Second reason as of why I went to the meet was to catch up with a few face I haven't seen in a while. Going to one of these meets, you know you've got at least one thing in common & of course, that would be cars.
The meet being over run by Hondas, I went around looking for the non-Hondas to take pictures of. One of which was this very clean Toyota Corolla AE86 (Levin) sitting on a set of immaculate Watanabes.
Gotta love a set of old school wheels. My taste in wheels sure have changed in the last few years.
As the morning went into the afternoon, the weather got more hot & humid. After staying a JDM Yard for a good 3-4 hours, I decided it was time to go, to go & watch some drifting at Eastern Creek! So I said my goodbyes & was on my way. Picked up my cousin, got some essential & headed to Eastern Creek Raceway (Sydney Motorsport Park as they call it now).
Once we got there, had a bit of a look around, I spotted this clean AE86 Levin sitting on a set of SSR MKIII's.
On the trailer it went, all packed up & ready to head home.
After hanging around for a bit, my cousin & I decided to head to the big track & take some pictures. We headed out to corner 4 where the action was right infront of us.
It has been a couple of months since I've done some motorsport photography, so my panning is a bit iffy. This Supra JZA80 was delivering almost everytime for the amount of hours I was out there.
And of course, this Silvia RPS13 was also out again. If you've been following my blog, many of the cars in the post would look very familiar as most of them were also out on the last Driving Sports Day of Drift.
Zenki S14 just cruising along because the red flag was up again.
After this shot, I decided it was time for a new view as there were three different photographers at the same turn & we'd have similiar, if not, exactly the same photos.
So I took a bit of a walk & ended up inbetween turns 4 & 9.
As I was standing behind the barriers, taking photos. I was thinking to myself, one day, one day, that'll be me in my S13.
No arms out the window! In saying that, the passenger sure seems like he's enjoying himself.
Last run for this lot before the next group came out.
The next group that was awaiting to jump on the big track.
Usually these drift events are over run with 90% of them being Nissans. But occasionally you get these other makes & models, one of which was this Toyota Corolla KE70.
This is what was keeping the media safe from the drifters if an accident was ever to occur.
And of course, my cousin joined me shortly after staying at turn 4 for a while. Visit his

The last shot I took while I was at that corner. There were too many delays which got quite sickening, it was hot, humid & I didn't want to wait around any longer so I decided to head back to the pits.
Something a bit different that was drifting on the big track, a Toyota Soarer/Lexus SC400.

For these events, you need to come prepared. Extra wheels/tires & tools, just incase something breaks or needs fixing up.

As I was leaving, I spotted this Soarer Z10. If only these were more common in Australia, with 15's & have sharknoses. Only in my dreams that would happen.
As of next year the Northern Circuit of the big track won't be open for drifters anymore. Eastern Creek Raceway have just recently finish building the Southern Circuit & that's where competitors will be able to drift from now on. Hopefully it'll be just as fun & hopefully the media would get some nice views up close.
